Hello fellow dragon lovers and newcomers to out site! We are terribly sorry for the delay. Our staff has been very busy these past two months, but we are back on track and hoping to have the site fully functional by the end of this summer.
What's New?
So, what happened last month in the world of dragons? Unfortunately, not much. Netflix did however, release three Chinese films with heavy inspiration from mythology. Each one features a dragon or a theme about dragons. These films are as follows: Ne Zha / Nezha, New Gods: Ne Zha Returns, and The Wish Dragon. Each of these movies had previously been released in China, and had their English release held back by the recent events of Covid. The first two listed deals with the mythology of the Ne Zha, the Chinese deity of protection, based off of Hindu Mythology. In his story, he ends up fighting the dragon gods, after the Eastern Sea Dragon King Ao Guang had refused the tributes of food people had made and instead preyed upon children. The first movie, simply titled Ne Zha, deals with this story. The second, New Gods: Ne Zha Returns deals with these deities being reborn and set in a more modern day setting. Being a popular story, there have already been several renditions of this made into film, such as Ne Zha Conquers the Dragon King, Ne Zha Wreaks Havoc in the East Sea, and Prince Ne Zha's Triumph Over the Dragon King. While none of us have watched the first two films, some of our staff took the time to watch The Wish Dragon. It was a very charming film with well designed characters, a simple yet fun plot, and a happy ending. While the plot falls into many similarities with Dinsey's Aladdin, it still has plenty of it's own features to make the film enjoyable to watch.
What Came Before?
