Breeding Seasons

After breeding your first starter dinosaurs, and receiving eggs, you may want to get right to breeding. But wait! Hold your dinos cowboy, breeding is restricted to certain seasons! Here's a list to what seasons are available for breeding:

January - Free Season (Dromeosaur and Spinosauridae Special)

March - Free Season (Pterosaur and Mososaur Special)

May - Exclusive Season (Ankylosaur and Stegosaur Special)

July - Free Season (Hadrosaur and Ceratopsian Special)

September - Exclusive Season (Theropod and Sauropod Special)

November - Free Season (Plesiosaur and Ichthyosaur Special)

Free Season VS Exclusive Season

Free seasons are basically open season! These seasons require no extra work. The season follows the typical rules of five breedings per player. With each new season, a player is allowed to use any male as many times as they want but females can only breed once per season. This applies to all breeding seasons!

Exclusive seasons require a little bit of legwork before posting a breeding. Don't worry, it's not too much! For the artists out there, the base requirement is a full body of both dinosaurs in the pairing in one image. The work must show the complete dinosaur, although some overlay is allowed (such as one dinosaur covering the feet, lower legs, or tail of the other). For our literary players, there is a word requirement of 800 words. This can simply be a story of how you brought your dinosaurs out of paddock into the barn! It doesn't have to be complicated. Please note that anything NSFW (Not Safe for Work) is NOT allowed! Anything sexually explicit will not be accepted. Members will receive a warning if the act is continued.

Season Rules that apply to all seasons are as follows: Every player can have up to five free breedings, five licensed breedings, and five splits. The person who posts the split takes up a free breeding slot, and the person who confirms the split takes up a split breeding. The breeding form must be filled out and posted under the female's "breedings" tab, and a link to that may be posted on the male's page to track their offspring.

Specials

What are specials? Specials happen for every season and affect specific classes of dinosaurs. When breeding dinosaurs each season, the ones that qualify for that season's special will receive a bonus to their roles. Each breeding is guaranteed to have at least three eggs and one rare gene per egg.

Breeding Form

This is the form that must be placed under the female's breeding comment, and the male's breeding must have a link to this female's comment. Please note that if you are breeding your own dinosaurs, simply put "my own dinosaur" next to the approval lines.

Inbreeding

When breeding dinosaurs, you may come across some form of inbreeding. In the real world, some breeders may cross a father with his daughter, a brother with his sister, or two cousins. This is because they are trying to achieve a certain look or performance. In these events, animals that have been inbred are more likely to suffer from genetic defects. In game, there are certain consequences from doing this. The levels and percentages are inspired by the Shedu Cats system, so these may look familiar.

Level 0: 0% - 5% - All eggs are healthy

Level 1: 6% - 15% - Eggs risk minor mutations

Level 2: 16% - 25% - Eggs will have minor mutations

Level 3: 26% - 35% - Eggs will have minor mutations and low risk of death

Level 4: 36%+ - Eggs will have major mutations and high risk of death

Mutations that occur, both good and bad, can be found on the mutations page.
